Bio

Born in Kauai, HI, Roy Powers grew up surfing along the same shores as fellow ASP World Tour campaigners Bruce and Andy Irons. He's grown up seeing what success in the surfing world has brought his neighbors, and Powers is ready for his share. His climb up the ASP World Tour has been slow and steady. Ranked ASP WQS 123rd in 2002, Powers finished 71st the next two years before catapulting to 9th on the ASP WQS in 2005, which gave him the chance to compete on the ASP World Tour in 2006.

Although his rookie season did not provide the sensation he hoped for when he finished outside the Top 27 and failed to re-qualify, his persistence paid off in 2007 when he won the ASP WQS 6-Star Prime Reef Hawaiian Pro on a day with the largest surf the event had ever seen. His near perfect scores guaranteed him a spot on the ASP World Tour in 2008 where he'll take another stab at surfing amongst the world's elite ' something Power's doesn't take for granted.
